The Ontario Ministry of Education introduced a Facility Partnerships Guideline on February 11, 2011.  The intent of the guideline is to encourage school boards to work with community partners to maximize the use of public space and to encourage cooperation to mutually benefit students, schools and the community at large.  As per the guideline, a board approved policy governing partnership opportunities should be posted by May 30, 2010.  A draft policy for the Ottawa Carleton District School Board is coming forward to the Business Services Committee on Wednesday, May 12, for review.  Cooperative and partnerships are part of the foundation of a strong, vibrant and sustainable publicly funded education system.
